Alberta Joyce Cook, 67, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Cook was born Feb. 13, 1943 in Campbell, Mo. She attended Cornerstone Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Cook had retired from Pyramid Tri-County In-Home Health Care, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, watching and feeding hummingbirds and helping others.
On April 26, 1962 she married James Edward Cook. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1994.
Other survivors include two sons, David Cook and companion Cindy Howard and Michael Cook and wife Cherie all of Poplar Bluff; a step-daughter, Carolyn Stewart and husband Floyd of davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Karla Heuertz, Lakeisha Cook, Ashley Cook, Derrick Cook, Dustin Cook, Alyssa Cook, Mason Cook and Aiden Cook; a great-granddaughter, Sophie Heuertz; two sisters, Lorene Modglin of Grantsburg, Ill. and Erma Williams of Alton, Ill.; and two brothers, Eugene Myers of El Paso, Tex. and Carl Myers of Park Hills, Mo.
Her parents, Namon and Oma (Penrod) Myers, three sisters, infant Helen Myers, Marie Weaver and Evelyn Harris, and a brother, Edward Myers also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Parkey officiating and the Rev. Jerry Moore assisting. Burial will follow at the Elder Cemetery in Campbell, Mo.
