Alma L. Kearby

Alma L. Kearby, 89, of Muskegon, Mich., and a former longtime resident of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at her residence in Muskegon.

Mrs. Kearby was born Jan. 1, 1922 in Ridgley, Tenn. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Kearby enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and gardening.

On Oct. 5, 1982, she married Judge Byron Kearby in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1996.

Survivors include her children LaWanda England of East Prairie, Mo. and James (Brenda) Wilson of El Paso, Tex.; grandchildren Frank (Belinda) Booth of Muskegon, Mich. (David) Mary Smith of Rochester Hills, Mich. Kimberley Mitchell of East Prairie, Mo., Matthew (Laura) Bieth of Marine City, Mich., Michael Wilson of El Paso Tex., and Terri Hurt; 15 great grandchildren, Crystal, Athena, Frank Jr., Heather and Chad Booth, Ashley, Cody and Jessica Smith, Shaun, Nickolas, Philip and Debra Busby, Samantha, Miranda and Andrew Bieth and Nicole, Dallas and Jacob Hurt; 15 great great grandchildren; and sister Lorene Vickery of Poplar Bluff.

Her parents, Roy and Pearl Cox Woods, sisters, Berdie Sterling, Ona Williford, Ola Ledbetter, Butel Stagner and Jeraldine Buttrey and brothers, Neil Woods and James R. ""Sonny"" Woods also preceded Mrs. Kearby in death.

A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Bro. Gregory Kirk officiating.
