Amy Belle Gray, 90, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Gray was born Aug. 30, 1918 in Fairdealing. At age 16 she began her teaching career in one room schoolhouses. Later receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Arkansas State University Mrs. Gray taught schools in Naylor, Poplar Bluff, Normandy and Neelyville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; Daughters of the American Revolution; Democrat Club; Stage Company; Garden Club.; and helped organize and start Haven House as well.

In 1937 she was married to Earl Gray. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1988.

Survivors include her children: Ronald Gray and wife Sarah of Poplar Bluff and Anne Marlin Glynn and special friend Don Bauman of Falls Church, Va.; 3 grandchildren: Ron Gray Jr. and wife Stephanie, Andrew Glynn and Christian Glynn; 2 great-grandchildren: Walker and Lilly Gray; and sister, Dorothy Marion Thompson of Gadsden, Ala.

Her parents, Elijah and Lillie (Marlin) McMillan, brother, Robert McMillan and sister, Dellaretta Bollheimer preceded Mrs. Gray in death.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel with Jean Dicken officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
