Annette McCall

Annette McCall, 78, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, surrounded by her children.

Annette was born on February 8, 1948, to Louie and Mary (Helvey) Underwood in St. Louis, Missouri. She married the love of her life, George McCall, on February 11, 1966, in Poplar Bluff.

Annette was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Poplar Bluff. She worked for the Butler County Accessor’s Office for over 20 years before retiring. She also worked at Newberry’s five and dime store as well as a local florist for a time. Annette was an avid and talented crafter; from cross stitching to crocheting, she could do it all. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Annette is survived by her two daughters, Jamie (Jeffrey) Hodge and Georgeanna "Jana" McCall; three grandchildren, Scott (Kate) Ellis, Christopher (Angie) Ellis and Samantha Albrecht; four great-grandchildren, Izacc, Chase, Maria, and Zoey Ellis; along with other extended family and friends.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Mary; husband, George McCall and grandson, George Thomas McCall.

An intimate gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 4:00pm-6:00pm at First Christian Church to celebrate the life of Annette. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
