Ray Lumpkins, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Lumpkins, son of the late Frank Lumpkins and Nola Johnson, was born June 2, 1930 in Moark, Ark. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and had retired from the Poplar Bluff R1 School System. Mr. Lumpkins enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, repairing small engines and fishing.
On Nov. 27, 1975, he married Geraldine Cross. She survives.
Other survivors include five children, Barbara Lumpkins of Minnesota, Debra (Rick) Januzzi of Hawaii and Karen Koeneker, Janet Hood and Misty (George) Pryor of Missouri; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Bunny Piercy and his twin, Rachel Mae Lumpkins also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
