Artie Marie Hensley, 89, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at The Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Hensley was born Jan 7, 1920 in Fairdealing. She was a member of Green Forest Church of Christ, and had retired after 30 years with Florsheim Shoe Factory. Mrs. Hensley enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
On Dec. 4, 1940 she married Joe Hensley in Corning, Ark. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1991.
Survivors include her daughters: Wanda Hughes of Poplar Bluff and Brenda Cannon, of Lakeland, Fla.: 7 grandchildren: Mike Hughes and wife Kara, Stacy Hughes and wife Kristen, Amanda Deaton and husband Grady, Tammy Whitt, Stephanie Whitt, Bryan Whitt and Shauna Hunt and husband Brian; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Freda England of Corning, Ark., Charlene Elders of Farmington, Naydean Robertson and husband Richard of Fairdealing and Carolyn Huneycutt and husband Junior of McDougal, Ark.; and brother, and Ralph Windle of St. Louis.
Her parents, Charlie and Ethel (Hogan) Windle; sons, Melvin Hensley and Donald Hensley; son-in-law, Melvin Hughes; sister, Dorothy Creach; and brothers, Alvie Windle, Raymond Windle, Ray Windle and Charles Windle preceded Mrs. Hensley in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel with Mr. Ray Sowell officiating. Burial will be at Kinsey Cemetery in Butler County.
