Audrey Allen Ferguson-Ortega, 83, of Mission Viejo, Calif., formerly of Fairdealing, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010 in California.
Mrs. Ortega was born Nov. 25, 1926 in Naylor. She graduated from Doniphan High School and taught school in Tucker, Powers and Bernham Schools in Ripley County. In 1959 Mrs. Ortega moved to California where she worked and later retired from the Orange County Assessor's office in Santa Ana, Calif.
In Aug. 1956 she married Walter Ferguson at Fairdealing United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1975. In April 1978 she married Alfredo Ortega in California. He preceded her in death in Jan. 1987.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Moor and husband Timothy of Mission Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren, Sarah Moor of Long Beach, Calif. and Aaron Moor of Mission Viejo, Calif.; sisters, Mary Dunlap and husband Bill of Poplar Bluff, Sylvia Childs and husband Bob of Town and Country, Mo., Wilma Allen of St. Louis and Geri Luechtefeld and husband John of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Myra Allen of St. Louis; brothers, Clifford Allen and wife Wanda, Norman Allen and wife Alma and Glen Allen all of Poplar Bluff, Arthur Allen and wife Claudia of Aurora, Colo., Ray Allen and wife Margaret of Montgomery City, Marvin Allen and wife Della of St. Peters and Vernon Allen and wife Debby of Dexter.
Her parents, Alvin and Sylvia (Watson) Allen, sister, Sharon and brother, Dale also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m Monday in the Chapel with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating. Burial will be at Fairdealing Cemetery.
