Avanelle H. Hahn, 90, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away, Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Hahn was born July 28, 1924 in St. Francis, Ark. To the late James Robert and Malissa Alice Bolen Hefner. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and had retired as a dietitian at John J Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Hahn enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and cooking.
On Sept. 15, 1939, she married William ""Frank"" Hahn in Broseley, Mo. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1971.
Survivors include her children: Phyllis (Robert) McGruder, of Harviell, Mo., Sharon Walter, of Poplar Bluff, Jerry (Lois) Hahn of Fredericktown, Mo. and James ""J.A."" (Pat) Hahn of Poplar Bluff; 6 grandchildren: David (Anita) Hahn, Curt (Jill) McGruder, Sherry (Steve) Francis, Karla Rasmussen, Teribeth (Will) Spargo, Frankie (Shelly) Hahn; husband of deceased granddaughter, Jerry Dorney; 14 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren
A son, Jackie Hahn, granddaughter, Patsy Dorney, sister, Dorothia ""Dot"" Pritchard and brothers, Z.J. 'Jeff"" Hefner and J.R. Hefner also preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with Brother John Collins officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, Mo.
