Barbara Jo Holifield, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Holifield, the daughter of the late Robert and Pauline (Nixon) Wood, was born December 31, 1942 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Holifield was a housewife, substitute teacher for the Poplar Bluff R1 School district, a hairdresser and a Girl Scout Leader for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering as a grandmother at Mark Twain Elementary School, sewing, knitting and was an avid reader.
On Feb. 19, 1960 she married Mike Holifield in Poplar Bluff. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include four children, Michelle Holifield of Bloomfield, Mo., Lisa Salyer, Natalie Sullivan both of Poplar Bluff, and Jessika Wyatt of Marion, Ill., a brother, Robert Wood II, and three sisters, Phyllis York, Janice Banderman and Glenda Townsend.
She was also preceded in death by her son Michael Floyd Holifield, Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
