Beecher V. Baysinger, 87, long time resident of rural Poplar Bluff, went to be with the Lord at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, after a lengthy illness and stay in the extended care unit at Veterans' Hospital in the city.
He was born August 25, 1920, at Leslie, Arkansas, to Steve and Esther Baysinger who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife Omma, a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda all of Godfrey, Illinois; and two sisters.
He had been an active member of First Baptist Church until his illness. He retired from the Missouri-Pacific Railroad where he worked for over 40 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Visitation will be at Cotrell Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until services at 12 noon with Rev. Robert L. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Gospel Rescue Mission or to the charity of ones choice.
