Betty J. Blunt, 79, of Poplar Bluff, died July 4, 2011 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center. Mrs. Blunt was born March 6, 1932 in Broseley, Mo. and was a homemaker and retired LPN. She was a member of the First Church of God and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting baby blankets, quilting, canning, church activities and socializing with friends.
On December 17, 1949 she married Raymond Blunt. He survives.
Also surviving are three children, Larry Raymond Blunt and wife Dorothy, Pamela Dorn and husband Michael all of St. Louis and Patricia Shain and husband Spencer of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren, Bill Blunt, Becky Clayton and husband James, Amy Spivey and husband Tom, Sarah Farris and husband Michael, Ryan Dorn, Kimberly Smith and husband Joe, Joe Uhl and Katelyn Ligons and husband Josh; and five great grandchildren, Jack Clayton, Claire Spivey, twins Kate and Emily Spivey, and Presley Anne Smith.
Preceding Mrs. Blunt in death were her parents, Claude Elmer and Rachel Earl (Murphy) Johnson, and four brothers, Louie Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Junior Johnson and Gene Johnson.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. July 6, 2011 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Triplett officiating. Burial will be at Sadler Chapel Cemetery in Dexter, Mo.
