Betty D. Douglas

Betty Dean Douglas, 75, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Douglas was born April 3, 1934 in Qulin. She was of the General Baptist faith, and was employed as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Doctor's Regional Medical Center for 35 years. Mrs. Douglas enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals ball games, dancing and fishing.

On Sept., 3, 1954 she married E. O. Douglas. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1983.

Survivors include three sons, Oliver L. Douglas and wife Amy, Eldred Ralph Douglas and wife Judy all of Poplar Bluff and Terry R. Douglas and wife Missy of Bloomfield; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Maddox, Denise Douglas, Chad Douglas, Craig Douglas and Steven Joyner; 4 great-grandchildren, Adeline Douglas, Ralston Douglas, Hunter Maddox and Hailey Maddox; three sisters, Ann Norman, of Poplar Bluff, Dianne Trout of Montgomery, Ala. and Elaine Lawrence of Cedar Hill, Mo.; and 2 brothers, Wendle Hendrix of Qulin and Teddy Hendrix of Alton, Mo.

Mrs. Douglas was also preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Ellen L. (Waters) Hendrix, sisters, Katherine, Patsy and Leta Pearl and brothers, John Hendrix, Charles Hendrix and DeWayne Hendrix.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
