Betty Jane Johnson, nee Martens, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 with her husband, Bob, at her bedside at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Ark.
Betty was born March 12, 1929 in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, and had retired as assistant vice president for Bank One in Waukesha, Wisc. Betty spent much of her life helping others: she was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for 10 years, spent several years working with the St. Louis Girl Scout Council where she was recognized with highest volunteer award in Girl Scouting - the Thanks Badge, and later worked with Senior Citizens in St. Louis and Milwaukee, WI. Betty had been a resident of Mountain Home, Ark. since 1993.
On Sept. 17, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Johnson, in Waukegan, Ill. He survives.
She also leaves behind their two children; Bob Johnson of Midland, Tex. and Joanne Helms of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren; Amy, Luke, and Rebekah.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 4th with the funeral service following at 10:30 a.m. at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with Pastor Marty Reed officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County.
