Betty Jane Messerli

Betty Jane (Clendenin) Messerli, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, June 15, 2012 at her daughter's home in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Messerli was born Jan. 6, 1925 in Granite City, Ill. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Steeleville, Ill., and was a retired Registered Nurse. Mrs. Messerli was a volunteer for VNA and Legacy Hospice and First Baptist Church Family Life Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, collecting teddy bears, traveling, shopping and helping other people.

On March 9, 1951, she married Jack Messerli in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2006.

Survivors include three children, Jenny King and husband James of Poplar Bluff, John C. Messerli and wife Irene of Terrell, Tex. and Jim Messerli and wife Lee of Dechard, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jeremy King, James King and wife Donna, Jessica Malloy and husband Sammy, Julie King, Joshua King, Jennifer King and companion Joe Bringer, Jayde and Wes Bringer, Joy Sarah Jane King, Lauren Barnes, Colin Messerli, Tony McCutchan and Andrea Amegard and husband Rick; great-grandchildren, Austin King, Branden King, Jonathan King, Tristan King, Ian King, Nicole Mier, Adam Mier, Dillon Malloy, Chloe Malloy, Landon Bringer, Bailey Bringer, Sarah McCutchan and Aubrey McCutchan; a sister, June Bowen of Houston, Tex.; and a brother, Dan Clendenin of Pennsylvania.

Her parents, Charles and Roxie (Hunter) Clendenin, granddaughter, Jacky King and brother, Bill Clendenin also preceded Mrs. Messerli in death.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
