Betty Joel (Ward) Watson

Betty J. Watson, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Watson was born March 19, 1930 in Piedmont, Mo. She was of the Protestant faith, and was a homemaker. During her early years Mrs. Watson worked at the Family Shoe Store in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing bingo and cards and collecting pig figurines.

On Aug. 26, 1951, she married George E. Watson in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1992.

Survivors include three children, George E. Watson Jr. and wife Glenda of Cedar Hill, Mo., Marjorie Lou Chaney and husband Van of Cibolo, Tex. and Robert W. Watson of Poplar Bluff; five granddaughters, Shelly Benson and husband Joe, Carrie Pullin and husband Matt, Mandy Weinart and husband Nick and Ashley Watson and Sarah Watson, and six great-grandchildren, Hannah Benson, Abby Benson, Hunter Watson, Auston Watson, Kaylee Weinart and Wyatt Pullin.

Her parents, Lewis L. and Dorothy H. (Henson) Ward and daughter-in-law, Marijane Watson also preceded Mrs. Watson in death.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Mr. Vernon Curry officiating.
