Bill Maddux, 81, of Wappapello died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Maddux was born May 4, 1928 in Rector, Ark. He was of the Baptist faith, and had worked for the Conservation Department at Wappapello. Mr. Maddux had also farmed, and was a certified welder in the construction industry. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Rector, Ark., and former member of the Arkansas National Guard where he was called to duty during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Maddux enjoyed being outdoors; and fishing, playing bingo and watching the St. Louis cardinals play baseball.

On July 11, 1953 he married Judy Tharp in Clarkton, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons: David Maddux and wife Lynae of Wappapello and Dennis Maddux and wife Christie of West Plains; grandchildren: Jennifer Maddux and Tonya Maddux both of Springfield, Jamie Maddux of Rolla, Dustin Maddux of Gainesville, Fla.; and a nephew, who has been a part of the family all of his life, Jerry Maddux and wife Shirley of Hornlake, Miss.

His parents, James Lloyd and Flossie (Blair) Maddux, five sisters and two brothers preceded Mr. Maddux in death.

The family will receive and visit with friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Wappapello Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wappapello Chapel with Pastor Wayne Burcheitt officiating. Burial will be at Little Brushy Cemetery at Wappapello.
