Billie Thomas Griffith

Billie Thomas Griffith, 84, of Wappapello, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Griffith was born March 28, 1926 in Waterloo, Iowa. For a number of years he was a self-employed electrician, and later had retired from Florida Steel Co. as a supervisor. Mr. Griffith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. He enjoyed welding, acquiring gadgets of all kinds and fixing anything electrical.

On April 9, 1950, he married Vivian Longnecker. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2000. On Feb. 5, 2002 he married LaVon (Busey) Griffith. She survives.

Other survivors include three children, David Griffith of Cocoa, Fla., and Vicki Cox and Lori Nso of Montclaire, N.J.; six step-children, Debra Van Hauen and Patrick Griffith both of Wappapello, Donnie Griffith and Cathy Jensen both of Waterloo, Iowa, Brian Griffith of Cook, Minn. and Michael Griffith of Shreveport, La.; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Busey of Jackson, Mo.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wappapello Cotrell Funeral Chapel.
