Billie June Mckeel

November 26, 1925 — January 9, 2010

Billie June (Dunn) McKeel, 84, of Doniphan, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. McKeel was born Nov. 26, 1925 in Butler County. She was of the Baptist faith, and a homemaker. During WWII she worked in a munitions factory in Detroit, Mich., and during later years in the dental office of Dr. George Blaich. Mrs. McKeel enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends, reading, fishing and sitting on her porch watching Current River.

On May 8, 1980 she married Junior ""Bud"" McKeel in Mansfield, La. He survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McKeel is survived by: her daughter, Lois Palmarez and husband Robert of Magnolia, Tex.; sons: Jim Dunn and wife Penny of Eagle River, Wisc. and Terry Dunn and wife Kelli of Garden Valley, Calif.; step-daughter, Vera Baker and husband Ed of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren: Thae Dunn and Demetri Dunn of Colorado, Tiegre Dunn of Ironton, MO, Joshua Dunn and Zechariah Palmarez of Texas, and Nicole Dunn, Corey Dunn and Madison Dunn of California: step-grandchildren: Becky Gowen, Cindy McWilliams and Dannie McCoy of Poplar Bluff, Yvonne Meece and Jonathan Palmarez of Texas, David Roda and Tyler Combs; great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Chris, Kayleigh, Kennedy, Cole, Conner; step-great-grandchildren: Jason, Jeffrey, Brett, Luke, Gabrielle, Alexia, Jordan, Madelyn and Mia; step-great-great-grandchild: Ashleigh; sisters: Helen Smith and husband Charles, Jackie Townsend and Geri Long and husband Ivan all of Poplar Bluff; brother, George Doty and wife Shirley of Poplar Bluff; sister-in-law, Dorothy Doty of Poplar Bluff; and many nieces, nephews and their children.

Mrs. McKeel was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Lester and Mary Pearl (Spencer) Doty and brother, Howard Doty.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A second visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with the funeral following at 11 a.m. with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Billie was a beautiful angel here on earth, loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and experiencing her kind and gentle spirit. Now she is singing with the angels in heaven.
