Billie Margaret Stubblefield, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Stubblefield was born April 14, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Stubblefield was previously co-owner of J&J Southside Daycare Center, and had retired as a saleslady with the F.W. Woolworth Department Store. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and flower gardening.

On Oct. 6, 1943, she married Carl J. Stubblefield in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2008.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Ann Bollig and her husband Bill, of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Carl John Stubblefield II, of Nixa and D. Craig Stubblefield and his wife Karen, of Tupelo, Miss.; 7 grandchildren, Stacy Atkinson and wife Leigh Ann of Poplar Bluff, Angela Ormsby and husband Kenny of Doniphan, Mo., Melissa Gassaway and husband John of Benton, Ark., Tiffany Shockley and husband Billy of Enterprise, Ala., Breanna Stiner and husband Jamie of West Plains, Mo., Heather McFarland of Lee Summit, Mo. and Tami McFarland of St. Louis, Mo.; and 16 great-grandchildren, Alexa Atkinson, Wyatt Marler, Lariat Ormsby, Lane Ormsby, Jessie Hamilton, Gage Gassaway, Jude Gassaway, Destini Shockley, Mikaylah Shockley, Stacie Shockley, Jordan Shockley, Caleb McFarland, Kyle McFarland, Andrew Stiner, Bryson Stiner, Hoyt Stiner; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Loward D. Sr. and Dora Lutes Sparks, and brother, Loward Sparks Jr. also preceded Mrs. Stubblefield in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fellowship General Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Beck officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
