Billie June Ward, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Ward was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Campbell, Mo. She was a Charter member of Memorial Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and taught the women's Sunday School Class. During her earlier years Mrs. Ward worked at the shoe factory, garment factory and plastic factory and later helped remodel and build new homes. She was a member of the Mogasco Club and Ladies Coffee Club. Mrs. Ward played on the women's softball teams of Holloway Realty and Jim Hogg's Market. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and being active.
On Nov. 22, 1946, she married Clawis Wilburn ""Sie"" Ward in Dudley, Mo. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Ward (Ron) Wunderlich of Dudley, Mo.; a son, Clawis David (Helen) Ward of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Shirley Ketcherside of Wappapello, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tresenda June (Rob) Scott of Bloomfield, Mo., and Mark David (Danielle) Wunderlich of Dudley, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Cy Nolan Scott, Eli Thomas Scott, Sophia Gabriel Wunderlich and Max Edwin Wunderlich.
Her parents, William Jefferson Grayum and Lela Josephine Whitehead Brumley Grayum Wright, four sisters, Lorene West, Lovis Pearce, Lois Parsons and Georgia Scott and one brother, John Ruben ""Bud"" Brumley also preceded Mrs. Ward in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Dennis Ward officiating. A committal service and interment will follow at 3 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, or to a charity of one's choice.
