Birdie Lorene Hodge, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Hodge was born June 29, 1927 in Neelyville, Mo. She was of the General Baptist faith, and had retired from the Dietary Department at Lucy Lee Hospital. Mrs. Hodge enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, fishing, gardening, making flower arrangements and crafts.
On June 29, 1946, she married Paul Wilson in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death. On Oct. 14, 1977, she married Melvin F. Hodge in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2000.
Survivors include four children, Patricia Sadler of Tampa, Fla., and Katherine Wilson, Phyllis Wilson Jarrell and David Wilson all of Poplar Bluff; and 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Mose and Bertha Shoulders Mitchell, son, Larry Wilson, 4 sisters and 6 brothers also preceded Mrs. Hodge in death.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, Mo. with The Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating.
