Blanche Brickell

Blanche Brickell, 91, of Hensley, Ark., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Brickell was born March 8, 1918 in Piedmont. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff, and was a homemaker. During her earlier years she was a saleslady in a women's clothing shop. Mrs. Brickell was an honorary member of the Red Hat Senior-ritas Poplar Bluff High School Class of 1956; and was a former volunteer for the Poplar Bluff Railroad Museum as well as Doctor's Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and being active.

On July 26, 1946 she married Jack Brickell in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1996.

Survivors include her son, Freddie McKinney and wife Rose of Hensley, Ark.; three grandchildren, Danny, Anna and Pete; a great-grandson, Corey; and a nephew, Mark Johnson of Sherwood, Ark.

Mrs. Brickell was also preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Stella (Rayfield) Howard, son, Billy J. McKinney, brother, Jesse Howard and sister, Phyllis Johnson.

The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
