Carl Bazzell, 71, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Bazzell was born July 15, 1940 in Qulin, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith, and had attended Oglesville General Baptist Church in Oglesville, Mo. Mr. Bazzell previously owned and operated Bazzell Dry Wall and Construction Co., and was a long time truck driver. He was also a former member of the Missouri National Guard. Mr. Bazzell enjoyed spending time with his family, driving a truck, reading the newspaper, deer hunting, fishing, and collecting knives and antique cars.
On July 17, 1976, he married Evelyn Young in Oglesville, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Carlos Bazzell and friend, Jeannie, Karen McGinnis and husband, Charles, Diana Bazzell and friend, Brent Barker and Deborah Bazzell all of Poplar Bluff and Georgia Ann Bazzell of Ft. Worth, Tex.; five grandchildren, Katie, Dawson, Dylan, Ashton and Carson; sister, Glenda Barker of Qulin, Mo.; and brothers, Ruford Bazzell of Qulin, Mo. and Russell Bazzell of Flint, Mich.
His parents, Clarence and Tora (Stratton) Bazzell, sister, Wilma Morgan and brothers, Milford Bazzell, Lester Bazzell and James Bazzell preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with Pastor Rick White officiating. Burial will follow at the Qulin Cemetery in Qulin, Mo.
