Carl Edward Gentry, 79, of rural Williamsville, Mo. died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Gentry was born Sept. 10, 1931 in Decatur, Ill. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict, and had retired as an auto body repairman for an auto dealership. Mr. Gentry enjoyed hunting, gun repairing, wood crafting and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
On Sept. 21, 1959, he married Donna Jean Jones. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2008.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Boyer and Carolyn Boyer both of Poplar Bluff and Beverly Saunders of Augusta, Ga.; 7 grandchildren, Troy Ray McCarter, Shea McCarter, Desra King, Gorman Saunders, Stevie Saunders, Kevin Boyer and Christopher Boyer; 4 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Troy McCarter of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Mac and Rose (Smith) Gentry, a daughter, Rebecca Boyer, a son, John Boyer, a grandson, Carl Steven Saunders, and two brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.
A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Three Springs Cemetery in Butler County with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating.
