Carl Martins Jr.

Carl John Martins Jr., 86, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at his son's residence, in Foristell, MO.

Mr. Martins was born in Poplar Bluff, MO on September 23, 1926, to the late Carl John Sr. and Josephine Jett Martins.

On September, 18, 1949 he married Lavon Merrett at Zion Lutheran Church, she preceded him in death on May 13, 2012.

Carl had worked as a machinist for Boeing Aircraft until his retirement. He served his country with the United States Navy and was a member of the Lutheran Church. He loved God, adored his wife and enjoyed spending time with his family, watching TV, and the Cardinals.

Survivors include his children: Carl Darrell Martins and wife (Cynthia) of Foristell, MO, Karen Lynn Levine and husband Art, of Dove Canyon, CA, and son-in-law, John Contento, of Carlsbad, Ca. 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Contento, on November 13, 2011.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Robert Eggers, and Pastor Marty Reed officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Lone Hill Cemetery.
