Carl A. ""Uncle Dick"" Vincent, 77, of Poplar Bluff , formerly of St. Louis died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis.
Mr. Vincent, son of the late Earl Patrick and Leola Della Mae (Gaddy) Vincent was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Bernardsville, N.C. He was a retired Carpenter and a 54 year honorary member of Carpenter's Local Union #185, in St. Louis. Mr. Vincent was a past member of Maplewood Masonic Lodge, and was a Shriner. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Vincent was devoted to his family, and was known by his neighbors and friends as a good neighbor and fishing buddy. He enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren, tinkering with or building things, and gardening and growing tomatoes.
On Dec. 29, 1951, he married Betty Lou Pennell, in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1988.
Survivors include seven children, Janet Dillender and husband John, of Henning, Tenn., Robert L. Vincent, of Va., Larry J. Vincent and wife, Milena, of Newport News, Va., Carlene Rowley, of St. Louis, and Annette Gonzalez, Dennis ""Tiger"" Vincent and wife, Chrissy and Charles ""Chucky"" Vincent and wife, Susan, all of Arnold, Mo.; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Midge Rudlaff, of Fla.; and brother, David Vincent, of Biloxi, Miss.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Butler County with the Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
