Carolyn Josephine Gooch

Carolyn Josephine ""Jodie"" Gooch, 72, of Poplar Bluff passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center after a 20-year battle with cancer.

Mrs. Gooch was born Sept. 3, 1941 in Springfield, Mo. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff and had worked from 1979 to 1994 as the P.E. Teacher at Poplar Bluff Junior High School. Mrs. Gooch enjoyed spending time with her family, being at Lake Vermilion in Cook, Minn., and fishing.

On Sept. 26, 1964, she married Robert G. Gooch in Willow Springs, Mo. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two children: Robert Scott Gooch (Beth) of Winslow, NJ and Johanna Gooch and companion, Steve Price of Poplar Bluff; and two grandchildren: Robert Gregory Gooch II and Jamie Michelle Gooch.

Her parents, Thomas Robert and Celah Crewse Burns preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Stewart officiating. Interment will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
