Charles Leo McNeely, 93, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at River Mist in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Chuck was born on December 02, 1931, to Leo and Meta (Hays) McNeely in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He married Nira Owens on June 08, 1952, also in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Chuck was a member of the United States Navy during the Korean conflict and served on board seaplane tender, USS Whiting. During his time in the service, he was a tailor and cobbler for the other servicemen. He was the owner and operator of McNeely Shoe Service for nearly 50 years. Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a sports enthusiast but had a knack and special love for golf. Chuck hit not one, but two hole in ones in his 70s and again in his 80s at Westwood Hills Country Club.
Chuck is survived by his two daughters, Angela Bomer and Mitzi (Rich) Richter; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Casey and one great-grandson, Ben Casey.
Charles was preceded by his wife, Nira McNeely and two brothers, Delmar and Gene McNeely.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Chaplain Callum Reavey officiating. Full military honors will be present.
