Charles A. "Chuck" Collins

Charles A. “Chuck” Collins, 82, of Dittmer, Mo., passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Mo.

Chuck, the son of the late Charles Hiram and Oral Ione Pierce Collins, was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Green Bay, Wis. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in House Springs, Mo. Chuck retired after a rewarding career in the US Air Force and MO Air National Guard. He later retired from Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, Mo. Chuck loved the outdoors, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also loved traveling, bowling, riding motorcycles and four wheelers and cheese of any kind. The greatest love of his life was his family.

Chuck married the love of his life, Lois Louise Gowen on Feb. 24, 1956. She preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2000.

Surviving is his daughter, Robin S. Glover of Dittmer; three grandchildren, April Collins, Shawn Collins and William Glover; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Sonnenberg and Verna Thiel; and many nieces and nephews.

Two sons, Randy Lynn Collins and Charles W. Collins, three brothers, Norman Collins, Eugene Collins and Allen Collins and four sisters, Grace Ann Collins, Arlene Collins, Alice Carpenter and LaVerne Birkholz, also preceded Chuck in death.

A Celebration of Chuck’s life will begin at 6:30 pm Thursday May 2 at the First Baptist Church in House Springs, with Pastor Brad Adams officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will be at 11:30 am Friday, May 31 at Kinsey Cemetery in Butler County, near Poplar Bluff, Mo. with Pastor Brad Adams officiating.
