Charles Douglas Duren, 66, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at The Cedargate Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Duren was born July 9, 1945 in Vinita, Okla., and attended school at the Fisk-Rombauer School. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Duren was a professional dog trainer of Upland Game Dogs, which he sold throughout the United States as well as internationally. He also raised quail for training his dogs, and had previously been active in field trials. Mr. Duren was a member of the National Bird Hunters Association and National Shoot to Retrieve Association. He enjoyed gatherings and having cookouts with his friends and fellow hunters.
On May 31, 1999, he married Paige Robertson in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Dana Suzanne Moss of Grand Prairie, Tex. and Shannon Tiffany of Poplar Bluff; a granddaughter, Kensey Moss; three grandsons, Cory Moss, Michael Tiffany and Lucas Tiffany; his mother, Catherine (Bresnehen) Duren of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Christine Overbeck and husband Howard of Gordonville, Mo. and Carol Drobney and husband Ron of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Glenn Lee Duren of Poplar Bluff; and a niece and several nephews.
His father, Claude Duren, preceded Mr. Duren in death.
The family will receive and visit with friends and other relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12 noon Tuesday in the Chapel with Pastor Paul White officiating.
