Charles Ray McKnight, 77, of Wappapello, MO, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at SEHealth in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Mr. McKnight was born December 11, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Carlin E. and Edith Vaughn Brewer McKnight. On July 24, 1956, he and Barbara Jean Wood were married in Poplar Bluff, MO, she preceded him in death February 17, 2000. Mr. McKnight and Bonnie Smith later married in Farmington, MO, she survives of the home.
Mr. McKnight was a member of Star Church in Fisk, MO, had worked as a machinist and a die maker, before retiring from the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, woodworking, reading and swinging on the porch.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Tammy Riess (Steve) of Troy, IL and Terry McKnight, of St. Louis; stepchildren: Chad Allen Boyt, of Wappapello, Gregory Len Boyt (Kelly) of Ravenwood, MO; brothers: Russell and Larry McKnight, both of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Susie Roberts of St. Louis; grandchildren: Shana, Morgan and Alex; and great grandchildren: Bryson, Beatrice, Joey, Anna and Vivian.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Sean.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:30 - 11 a.m., at Cotrell Funeral Service in Wappapello. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Neal Chilton officiating. Interment to follow at City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
