Charles Edward Pinkerton

Charles Edward Pinkerton, Sr., 97, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Pinkerton was born Aug. 2, 1917 in Poplar Bluff to the late John H. and Julia Mae Montgomery Pinkerton and was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School class of 1937. Mr. Pinkerton was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Green Forest Church of Christ, which was built on property donated by his grandfather. Mr. Pinkerton enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, and watching St. Louis Cardinal's baseball. He was an avid deer hunter and was fondly known as ""The Deer Slayer"".

On May 31, 1942, he was married to the former Louise Anthony in Corning, Ark. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three children: Charles E. (Johnie) Pinkerton, Jr., Barbara (Larry) Childress and Ronald (Donna) Pinkerton, all of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Rowe Pinkerton, Clyde Pinkerton and Leonard Pinkerton also preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Green Forest Church of Christ, on Township Line Road in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the church chapel with Bro. Ray Sowell officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Montgomery Cemetery
