Charles "Jim" Franklin Smith, 69, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, April 10, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Hazelton, Ind., to the late Elmer William and Frances Elnora Myers Smith. He attended Calvary Community Church and had retired as owner and operator of Walt's paint and auto body shop in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family, old cars and singing karaoke.
On Nov. 15, 1985, he married Pamela Bowman, in West Liberty, Ky. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include five children: Charles Smith II, of Poplar Bluff, Angela Kay Smith Jacobs (John), James Howard Smith, Brian Scott Smith and Gregory Alan Smith, all of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Cornwell, of Indiana, Dee Smith (Billy), of Piedmont and Billie Gaye Kelley (Steve), of DesArk; and a bother-in-law, Dennis Talley, of Poplar Bluff.
Three brothers, Andy C. Smith, Harry W. Smith and Gary L. Smith, and two sisters, Suetta Dyer and Ica "Chink" Talley also preceded Mr. Smith in death.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Shelvie Stephens will officiate. There will not be a burial.
