Clifford A. Allen

Clifford Alvin Allen, 82, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Allen was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Naylor, Mo. He was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years, and had retired as co-owner and operator of Allen's TV Service and Repair. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed traveling and all types of sports. He especially enjoyed coaching park league baseball.

On July 5, 1953, he married Wanda Maxine Hill in Fairdealing, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include 7 children, Clark Allen and wife Mary Ann of Poplar Bluff, David Allen and wife Kathy of Lee Summit, Mo., Jerry Allen and wife Anna of Hobe Sound, Fla., Linda Brown and husband Randy of High Point, NC, Cheryl Bowers and husband Jack of St. Peters, Mo., Wayne Allen and Linda Collier of Poplar Bluff and Kenneth Allen and wife Sandy of Ferguson, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Nick Barnes, Cole Allen, Hope Allen, Christopher Allen, Christine Brown, Tiffany Brown, Rachel Bowers and Justin Bowers; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary Dunlap of Poplar Bluff and Wilma Allen, Geri Luetchfield and Sylvia Childs all of St. Louis, Mo.; and 6 brothers, Norman Allen of Poplar Bluff, Arthur Allen of Denver, Colo., Glen Allen of Poplar Bluff, Marvin Allen of St. Peters, Mo., Vernon Allen of Dexter and Ray Allen of Louisiana, Mo.

His parents, Alvin and Sylvia Watson Allen, sisters, Audrey Ortega and Sharon Davidson and brother, Dale Allen preceded Mr. Allen in death.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
