Danny Leo ""Dan"" Maloney, 56, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Dan was born Sept. 22, 1956 in Dexter, Mo. He joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife in 1989, and became a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in 1994. Dan immensely enjoyed his job because he enjoyed being around people and he became friends with most everyone on his mail route. He was an avid St. Louis Rams fan, a St. Louis Cardinals devotee, and he loved going to games for both teams. Dan was also an avid bowler in his younger years.
On Mar. 16, 1984, he married Pamela Rudolf. She preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2007. On June 14, 2009, he married Cheryl Roeger. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl, Dan is survived by his daughters, Julie Maloney, of Elsinore, Mo., and Janet (Winston) Baker, of Puxico, Mo.; stepdaughter, Emily Hendricks Jensen (Mathies) of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; sister, Debbie Darnell (Jimmie) of Campbell, Mo; his father and stepmother, Leo and Lucille Maloney of Sikeston, Mo.; his mother, Delores Maloney of Campbell, Mo.; and three grandsons.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Pastors Jim Woeltje and John Tarter officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Humane Society, or a charity of choice.
