David Hanner

David Hanner, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Hanner was born Jan. 31, 1924 in Harviell, Mo., and was of the Church of Christ faith. Before moving to Poplar Bluff in 1959, he was a farmer and sawmill owner. After relocating to Poplar Bluff, Mr. Hanner ran a sawmill, was a carpenter, raised cattle and pigs and drove a school bus for Oak Ridge school district. He along with his wife, Alma also ran a small grocery store on M Highway before retiring. Mr. Hanner enjoyed spending time with his family and dancing.

On Aug. 15, 1942, he was married to Alma Webber at Corning, Ark. She preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Myers and wife Carol of Florida and Roy Hanner and wife Norma of Poplar Bluff; three daughters, Sharon Davis, Barbara Williams and husband, Calvin and Margaret Lotshaw and husband, Donald all of Poplar Bluff; 29 grandchildren, Sherry and Jerry, Donna and Ken, Marty, Mike, Ronda and Orian, Lisa, Richard and Denise, Susie and Jim, Roger and Julie, David and Tammy, Chris and Laura, Pam and Chris, Tim, Ralph and Angie, Angie and Brian, Sheila and Brett and Shelley; 38 great-grandchildren, Danny, Ryan, Mark, Brandon, Abby, Michael and Melissa, Christopher and Amber, Jonathan, Joshua and Brittney, Rachael, Danielle and Chris, Ricky and Jen, Ryan, Nathan, Dakota, Hannah, Shelby, Madison, Dawson, Savannah, Nikki and C.J., Justin and Tara, C.K. and Lisa, Matt, James, Randy and Karoline, Laci, Sumer, Tanner, Kyle, Nick, Clayton and Shelby; 20 great-great grandchildren, Melissa, Colton, MaKinsey, Riley, Lexi, Brianna, Noah, Eden, Avery, Hailey, Heaven, Bo Hunter, Cameron, Kelsey, Saige, Ethan, Sierra and Jacob and arriving soon, America and Baby Hanner; a sister, Edna Malone Kenser and husband Bill; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hanner; and two brothers, Galey Hanner and wife, Polly and Raymond Hanner and wife Betty.

Mr. Hanner was also preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Mettie (Foster) Hanner, grandsons, Bruce Davis and Roy David Hanner, Jr., great-granddaughter, Melissa Myers, great-grandsons, Dustin Davis and Sammie Sheppard, brother, Franklin Hanner, brother-in-law, Herman Malone and son-in-law, Donald Davis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with Mr. Rick Holden officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
