David Hermann Hendrix, 92, of Poplar Bluff passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Hendrix was born Dec. 3, 1921 in Niangua, Mo. to the late Samuel Joseph and Bessie Delia Day Hendrix. He was a retired businessman and self -employed contractor and cabinetmaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hendrix proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and gardening.
On April 22, 1946, he married the former Clara Margaret Johnson in Piggott, Ark. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, David Wayne Hendrix, of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren: Sarah Lacey Ferguson (late husband, Norman), of Poplar Bluff and Erin Rebekah Barks (Charles Anthony), of Union, Mo; eight great-grandchildren: Jordan Zachary, Hunter David, Allie Claire, Grant Lee, Scott Anthony, Alexis Jade; and one great-great-grandchild, Jackson Cole.
Four brothers, Clyde, Bill, Jim, and Samuel and two sisters, Marjorie and Charlotte also preceded Mr. Hendrix in death.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. Rev. Vernon Kneir will officiate. Entombment with full military honors will be in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
