Deborah Debbie Janice Mckim (Emerson) Scaggs

July 30, 1951 — March 17, 2013

Deborah Janice McKim Scaggs, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 17, 2013, surrounded by her family following a long battle with cancer.

Debbie was born on July 30, 1951 in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Frances Stone Emerson and Raymond Emerson, Sr. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a nurse.

On July 3, 2004, she married the love of her life, William C. Scaggs in Poplar Bluff. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her son, Robert McKim, Jr., of Doniphan, Mo.; daughter, Robyn O'Connor, of St. Louis, Mo.; 2 stepsons, Tony Scaggs and family, of Springfield, Mo., and Andy Scaggs, of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Shelby O'Connor, Ryan McKim, Bobby and Aaron McIntosh, Phillip Brodrick Russell, Devon and Payton McKim, and Zoe Bramlett; 3 step-grandchildren, Tim Scaggs, Vicki Scaggs and Eddie Scaggs; sister, Rebecca Rodgers and family, of Morley, Mo.; brother, Kenneth Emerson and family, of Advance, Mo.; sister-in-law, Betty Emerson, also of Morley, Mo.; and many extended family members and close life-long friends.

Her parents, her youngest son, Randy D. McKim, and 2 sisters and 2 brothers preceded Debbie in death.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Community Church at 213 West Victor St. (off of South Broadway St.) in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary with Brother Shelvie Stephens officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
