Debra Kay Collins, 55, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. died Friday, March 4, 2011 at Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown, Mo. from injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident near Fredericktown.
Mrs. Collins was born June 29, 1955 in Cabool, Mo. At an early age she was baptized at the First Christian Church in Houston, Mo. After moving to Poplar Bluff she became a member of First Christian Church of Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Collins was a graduate of Houston High School Class of 1973 where she was also a member of the Honor Society, a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University Class of 1974 with an Associates Degree in Business and a graduate of Southeast Missouri University Class of 1993 with a BS in Criminal Justice. She had served as administrator for Probation and Parole District No. 25 in Poplar Bluff since 2004. Mrs. Collins enjoyed spending time with her family especially her granddaughter, attending sporting events, watching college basketball, going to the lake, shopping, traveling and helping people.
On May 25, 1974, she married Michael Wayne Collins at the First Christian Church in Houston, Mo. He survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Grant Collins and wife Shonna and Blake Collins all of Poplar Bluff; granddaughter, Dakota Collins; parents, Jacob Joye and Beulah Maye (Adey) Flower of Houston, Mo.; sister, Sheila Taylor and husband Kerry of Springfield, Mo.; nieces, Jamie Bowlin and husband Rocky and Rhonda Neal all of Houston, Mo.; great-niece, Allisa Bowlin of Houston, Mo.; nephew, Loren Neal of St. Louis, Mo.; great-nephew, Ryan Bowlin of Houston, Mo.; mother-in-law, Hartis Collins of Houston, Mo.; sister-in-laws, Jessie Neal and husband Lance and Karen Cavanaugh and husband Jim all of Houston and their sons, Daniel Cavanaugh and wife Nicole and their daughter Casey Karen Cavanaugh of San Antonio, Tex. and Quentin Cavanaugh and wife Michele and their daughters, Devan Cavanaugh and Darby Cavanaugh of Hampton, Va.
A Celebration of Life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12th at the First Christian Church in Houston, Mo.
