Dennis Dwight Barriner

Dennis Dwight Barriner, 56, of Dixon, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Barriner was born Oct. 5, 1955 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired from the U.S. Army having served in the Granada and Gulf Wars. During his career in the Army Mr. Barriner received the Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal (4th Award); Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award); National Defense Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd award); and Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.

On March 29, 1977, he married Dolores Lewis in Butler County, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include three children: Charles Barriner and wife, Amanda, of Dixon, Mo., Dennis Barriner and wife, Lena, of Beaver, Okla., and Connie Foradory and husband, Craig, of Buda, Tex.; nine grandchildren, Alexis, Layla, Johanna, Chelsea, Brice, Jordon, Matthew, Elizabeth and Blaze; his mother, Margie (Fox) Barriner; a sister, Martha Anderson and husband, James; and a brother, Doug Barriner, and wife, Gail, all of Poplar Bluff.

His father, Fred Barriner and brother, Terry Smith preceded Mr. Barriner in death.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A Graveside service with full military honors will follow 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Donny Emmons officiating.
