Dessie E. Minton Parrish, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Mrs. Parrish was born Sept. 6, 1928 in Mulenburg, Ky. She was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Parrish enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, sewing, cooking, fishing and making crafts.
On March 21, 1947, she married Leonard Minton in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1990.
Survivors include 2 children: Vicky Trober and her husband, Larry, of Sellersburg, Ind. and Sharon Quigley and her husband, William, of Piedmont, Mo.; 4 grandchildren: Daniel Scott and his wife, Cristi, Brian Scott, Christopher Scott and his wife, Melissa and John McAbee; 6 great-grandchildren: Madyson Scott, Julia Scott, McKenna Scott, Noah Scott, Natalie Morrison-Scott and Rebecca Smith; a sister, Joyce Lloyd and her husband, John of Madisonville, Ky.; and a close friend, Ada Myers of Poplar Bluff.
Her parents, Benjamin and Mary E. (Brian) Evans, sister, Bernice Evans and brothers, Leo Evans, Richard Evans and Cleston Evans also preceded Mrs. Parrish in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Lester Galbraith officiating. Burial will be at Black Creek Cemetery.
