Dicie (Hollis) Whiffen

Dicie Whiffen, 89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, Oct 02, 2015 at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Whiffen, daughter of the late James and Alma (Hobgood) Hollis, was born Feb 24, 1926 in Bernie, Mo. She was a former nurse's aide for Lucy Lee and Doctor's Hospital. Mrs. Whiffen was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed gardening and raising roses.

On August 6, 1962 she was married to Walter Landy Whiffen in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2004.

She is survived by a nephew, Carl Sanders of Poplar Bluff; and two nieces, Maxine Vaughn of Bloomfield and Helen White of Big Fork, Mont..

Mrs. Whiffen was preceded by three brothers, Dawsey, Ralph, Frank and Alic Hollis and three sisters, Halcyon Sanders., Juanita Shrum, and Lillie Hollis.

A visitation will begin at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with a graveside service following at 3 p.m. at Rombauer Cemetery. Rev. Ralph Mayes will officiate.
