Dixie Lee (Hills) Lucas, 76, of Warrenton, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Lucas was born Jan 28, 1939 in Charleston, Ill. to the late Robert Christian and Kathryn Stevens (Powell) Hills. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and had retired from Kneibert Clinic Laboratory as a Certified Medical Technologist. Mrs. Lucas, a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, is also a past Regent of the Poplar Bluff Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a former member of the Business and Professional Women Foundation, where she was named Women of the Year in 1985. She enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her family, as well as tinkering with and repairing antiques.
On Nov. 23, 1960, she married Darryl Terry Lucas in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1999.
Survivors include her son, Michael Gene Lucas (Karman), of Warrenton, Mo.; five grandchildren: Joshua Lyle Powell, Robert "Bobby" Lucas, Kristi Lucas, Brennan Lucas (Mikayla) and Olivia Lucas; two great-grandchildren: Lauren Lucas and Carter Lucas; her step-mother, Neva Hills, of Poplar Bluff; and three sisters: Jean Hills Kramer, of Hannibal, Mo., Nancy Hills, of St. Louis, Mo. and Carol Hills Dellinger, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
A son, Terry Lee Lucas, also preceded Mrs. Lucas in death.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Dixie's niece, Pastor Dawn Fansler, officiating. Inurnment of Mrs. Lucas's ashes will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
