Donald ""Don"" W. Brown, Sr., 63, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Brown was born Nov. 29, 1950 in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and had retired as a Department of Transportation officer for Missouri Highway Patrol. As a youth he was a member of the Boy Scouts, and one of his favorite memories was spending time with Gramps on the farm at Hendrickson. Mr. Brown enjoyed being a chauffeur for his granddaughters, camping at Bucksnort, horseback riding, collecting coins and knives.
Survivors include three children: Donald W. Brown, Jr. (Melissa), of Poplar Bluff, Holly Ann Kopp (Dan) of St. Charles, Mo. and Stacie Dichsen (Andrew) of O'Fallon, Ill.; his mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Jim Hastings, of Poplar Bluff; several grandchildren: Taylor, Peyton and Austin Dichsen, Cody Brown, Kaitlyn Kopp and Alyssa and Gracie Brown; one great grandchild, Landon Brown; three sisters, Sandy Brown, Karen Hast (Dennis) and Ruth Brown all of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Jamon Brown, of Waynesville, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
His father, George D. Brown preceded Mr. Brown in death.
His family is comforted with the knowledge that he is enjoying a Grand Reunion with many loved ones and friends that went before him.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the church with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
