Donald G. Duncan, 83, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Ellington, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Louis University Hospital.
Mr. Duncan was born June 10, 1926 in Van Buren. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, a Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Poplar Bluff Elks Lodge #2452 and a 50-Year member of the Travelers Protective Association (TPA). Mr. Duncan was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. He retired from Anheuser Busch and the Barry Wehmiller Co. in St. Louis, and later formed his own consulting company to assist worldwide brewery corporations. In 1990 he retired and moved to Poplar Bluff.
On Nov. 7, 1968, he married Wilma Burton (Anthony) of Poplar Bluff, in Alton, Ill. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his sons, Kevin Duncan and his friend Jackie Gant of Dudley, Jerry Wayne Burton, Jr. and his companion Ralph Wiethuchter of St. Louis and Roger Burton and his wife Debbie of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Felicia Burton of Charlotte, NC, Brittany Burton of Boone, NC, and Eric and Jackie Thilman, Heather and Taylor Duncan and Amy and Eric Blaich all of Poplar Bluff; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Joan Fears of Williamsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Letha (Burnham) Duncan and brothers, Noble Duncan and Winfred Duncan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A Masonic Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County.
