Donna Kathleen Ahrent

Donna Kathleen Ahrent, 86, of Poplar Bluff, finished her earthly journey and entered her eternal home Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Ahrent, the daughter of the late Charles P. and Bertha M. (Barton) McRill, was born March 22, 1933, in Poplar Bluff.  She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter and was a homemaker.  After graduating from high school, she attended Missouri Baptist College and later Mineral Area College.  Over the years, Mrs. Ahrent worked for the Department of Navy, at Commerce Bank in Poplar Bluff, and at KWOC radio station, where her husband and daughter said with a chuckle, she met Elvis Presley before he got famous. Mrs. Ahrent loved to spend time with her family and pet cats and dogs.  She enjoyed reading, being outdoors and if health permitted working in her yard.

She married Dale Richard Ahrent on Dec. 30, 1961.  He survives.

Other survivors include their daughter Kathleen McRill of Fayetteville, AR; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ahrent was preceded by two brothers, Paul McRill and Donald McRill; and three sisters, Dorothy Elkins, Marilee Allen and Eileen Sechrest.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, with the funeral service following at 1 p.m.  The Rev. Justin Sponaugle will officiate.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to American Heart Association or United Gospel Rescue Mission.
