Dora Metz Zadnick, 96, of Jonesboro, Ark. died January 27, 2012 at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Zadnick was born October 15, 1915 in Naylor, Mo., the daughter of the late Albert and Jane Woolard Metz. She was a long time resident of Poplar Bluff and retired as secretary in Medical Administrations Service of the Veterans Hospital. Mrs. Zadnick was an active member of Highland Drive Church of Christ in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of the Fine Arts Club and charter member of Green Thumb Garden Club. She was active in PTA work serving as president of Kinyon PTA, and also served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader at Kinyon Elementary School.
Mrs. Zadnick moved to St. Bernard's Village, Jonesboro Ark., on April 20, 2004 to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She was an active member of Jonesboro Southwest Church of Christ, Classic Seniors, Brothers Keepers, New Horizon, Faith Builders Sunday School Class, Life Group 38 and Treasures.
On November 2, 1933 she was married to Frank Zadnick in Neelyville, Mo. He preceded her in death November 11, 1963.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jane ""Frankie"" and husband Richard ""Dick"" Gray of Jonesboro,Ark., one brother Rex Metz and wife Violet and their grandchildren Parker and Kaitlyn Metz of St. Peters, Mo., nieces, Kay and husband Charles Marlin of Little Rock, Ark., Cindy and husband Dr. Jason Lofton and children Oaklee, Olivia and Silas of Dequeen, Ark., Reginia Scheitlin and son Daniel of Hermitage, Tenn., nephews, Stephen Kimberling of Palm Harbor, Fla, Lee Marlin and wife Sonya and son Cole of Omaha, Neb., and Tony Zadnick of Poplar Bluff.
Preceding Mrs. Zadnick in death were three sisters, Betty Kimberling and husband William, Lorene Williams and Glorianna Metz, one brother, Don Metz and wife Nadine, nephews, Michael Metz, Donnie, Ronnie and Ronald Gene Metz.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A celebration of life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Adcox and Tom Martin officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
