Doris Marie Andrews, 73, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Andrews was born March 21, 1937 in Poplar Bluff. She was an active member of Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center (formerly Bluff City United Pentecostal Church) where she also served as the piano player for 53 years. In 1999 Mrs. Andrews retired from the Poplar Bluff R1 School District as cook/cashier at the Senior High school. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and baking homemade bread and cinnamon rolls.
On Dec. 31, 1952 she married Leonard Franklin Andrews in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2002.
Survivors include 5 daughters, Donna Montgomery and husband Freddie of Malden and Kathy Marler and husband Dennis, Dolly Rush and husband Chad, Sandy Hall and husband Steve and Patty Mizell and husband Terry all of Poplar Bluff; a son, Leonard Dewayne Andrews and wife Michelle of Wentzville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, Chad Rush and wife Sarah, Christy Barbour and fiance Clayton Gant, Justin Morgan and wife Rhonda, Ginger Edwards and husband Chad, Terry Gene Mizell and wife Kim, Michael Mizell, Kevin Hall, Greg Hall, Brad Andrews and wife Misty, Ryan Andrews and wife Jennifer, Ashley Bader and husband Tim, Aaron Andrews, Samantha Andrews and Britney Andrews; 10 great-grandchildren, Skye Rush, Jacob Wethington, Taylor Barbour, Trey Barbour, Kelsey Edwards, Wyatt Edwards, Meagan Morgan, Kyra Mizell, Ashlyn Mizell and Maci Andrews; 2 sisters, Joyce Waggoner and husband Charles of Poplar Bluff and Carol Welch of Griffeth, Ind.; a brother, Jessie Hicks and wife Mildred of Poplar Bluff; and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Walter Hicks and Nola Hicks Friday, grandson, Leonard Franklin Andrews II, 3 sisters and 2 brothers also preceded Mrs. Andrews in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center, 501 South C. St. in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church with Rev. Ted Elledge officiating, and Rev. Jerry Williams, Rev. Gary Williams and Rev. Wesley Norris assisting. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
