Doris Jean Smith

Doris Jean Smith, 92, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Doris was born on November 01, 1933, to Damon and Christine (Krebs) Miller in St. Louis, Missouri. She married William L. Smith on January 17, 1953, in St. Louis, MO.

Doris was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Westwood Hills Ladies Golf Association. Doris worked for the Poplar Bluff Police Department as a record clerk for 26 years before retiring. She was known to have a great sense of humor; always bringing smiles and laughs to those around her. Doris enjoyed golfing, playing cards, cooking, and hosting gatherings. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.

Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law, Becky Smith; three grandchildren, Rachel Kennedy, Billy (Jenny) Smith, and Justin (Rachael) Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Allie, Jackson, John, Jayden, Jennika, Joseph, Jesse, Kayden, Lane, and Emma; two great-great grandchildren, Tevin and Sawyer; best buddy and canine companion, Mikey.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William L. Smith; three sons, Larry, Glenn, and Wayne Smith; brother, Ralph Miller; canine companion, Molly.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Allen Kirchner officiating. Inurnment to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
