Dorothea Gertrude Lasley

Dorothea Gertrude Lasley, 100, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on March 11, 2026, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Dorothea was born on February 25, 1926, to Fredrick and Nona (Weigand) Argurieo in St. Louis, Missouri. She married John Russell Lasley on March 21, 1968, in Belleville, IL.

Dorothea received her master’s degree in nursing from St. Louis University and dedicated decades of her life to being a Registered Nurse. Dorothea’s career brought her to live in several states across the country before settling in Poplar Bluff, where she continued helping others. Her caring and compassionate nature didn’t end with her nursing career, it spilled over into her family, community and church life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a faithful servant of Christ. Dorothea enjoyed tending to her garden, and spending time outdoors. She was an animal lover and had several loyal canine companions throughout her life. Dorothea was a light to many and will truly be missed.

Dorothea leaves behind many extended family, friends, and loved ones. She was blessed with an abundance of caregivers who showed her true love and compassion.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband, John Lashley; three brothers, Fred, Tom, and Ted Argurieo; two sisters, Josephine Copeland and Geneva Allen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A committal service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Matthew Cemetery in St. Louis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri.
